DJI Mic Mini 2S: The Pocket-Sized Wireless Mic That Finally Remembers Everything

Good gear disappears when you're working -you stop thinking about it and just trust it to do its job. That's the pitch behind DJI's latest wireless microphone, the Mic Mini 2S, which quietly solves the one problem that's followed the entire Mic Mini lineup since it launched: what happens when the wireless connection drops mid-shoot.

The answer, as it turns out, was hiding in the name. The "S" stands for storage, and it changes what this tiny mic is capable of.

What's Actually New Here

The original Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 were built for creators who wanted DJI's signature ease of use in the smallest possible footprint but neither one recorded audio locally. If your wireless signal cut out behind a wall or lost sync in a crowded venue, that take was gone. The Mic Mini 2S closes that gap by borrowing a feature straight out of the flagship DJI Mic 3 playbook: 32-bit float internal recording, storing up to 28 hours of audio in default 24-bit mode on roughly 14.5 GB of built-in storage. That means even if the wireless link drops entirely, the transmitter keeps capturing a wide dynamic range without clipping  so a whispered line and a shouted one can both be recovered cleanly in post

It's a meaningful jump. Each transmitter now holds roughly 14.5 GB of onboard storage and records independently of the receiver, and the transmitter supports 32-bit float capture that preserves enough dynamic range that both clipped peaks and buried whispers can be recovered later. For solo creators, podcasters, and run-and-gun videographers, that's peace of mind that simply didn't exist in the Mini series before.Smarter Noise Canceling, Built for Real Environments

Clean audio isn't just about storage it's about what the mic filters out before it even hits your recording. The 2S introduces two-level AI noise canceling that adapts to the environment: Basic mode reduces indoor background sound like fans and air conditioning, while Strong mode targets louder outdoor noise. It's a notable upgrade because, as one industry outlet pointed out, the 2S is actually the only mic in DJI's current lineup running this newer AI-based noise canceling the flagship Mic 3 and the standard Mic Mini 2 still use the older two-level active system. In other words, DJI's most affordable mic just leapfrogged its own top-tier model on this one feature.

Built to Scale: From Solo Vlogger to Full Production

Where the Mic Mini 2S really opens up is in how far it scales. A single receiver can now pair with up to four transmitters simultaneously, making it a genuinely viable option for podcast panels, interviews, and multi-person commercial shoots — not just solo talking-head content. And DJI hasn't locked users into buying an entirely new ecosystem to get there: Mic Mini, Mic Mini 2, and Mic Mini 2S transmitters and receivers all support mix-and-match pairing, so creators who already own earlier DJI mics can expand their kit without starting from scratch.

For camera-based workflows, the receiver connects to compatible Sony cameras via DJI's Camera Adapter, and in Quadraphonic mode, it outputs four independent audio tracks at once — giving editors precise control over track separation during post-production. There's also a built-in Safety Track option inside the DJI Mimo app, which records a backup track at -6 dB specifically to guard against clipping and distortion, on top of the transmitter's own local backup recording.

Global Rollout — With One Notable Gap

DJI launched the Mic Mini 2S globally on August 4, 2026, after first introducing it in China the previous month. Pricing lands solidly in budget-friendly territory: a single transmitter costs £59 / AU$99, while the core bundles — a 1 TX + 1 RX kit or a 1 TX + 1 Mobile RX + Charging Case kit — are both priced at £79 / AU$149. Creators who want the full two-mic setup can step up to the kit with two transmitters, a receiver, and a charging case, which sells for €189 in Europe and £169 in the UK.

There is one catch worth flagging for international readers: DJI has confirmed the Mic Mini 2S won't be launching in the US for now, with regulatory authorization still pending — part of a broader pattern affecting the brand's newer product releases in that market. For buyers across the UAE, Europe, and most of Asia-Pacific, though, availability isn't an issue — it's already shipping through DJI's official store and authorized retail partners.Who Should Actually Buy It

One reviewer summed up the value proposition well: the Mic Mini 2S takes nearly everything that makes the flagship Mic 3 appealing — internal recording, 32-bit float, and AI noise cancellation — and delivers it at roughly half the cost. For content creators, podcasters, and small production teams who don't need the Mic 3's eight-receiver ceiling or timecode syncing, the 2S is shaping up to be the smarter buy — DJI's most capable "small" mic yet, without the flagship price tag.
